Quinton is 8 months old and still feels the need to wake up two or three times a night, much to the delight of his "more mature" parents. Yes, I just turned 35 this week. Randy is kickin' it in his 40's.
In Quinton's defense, he has had several ear infections and after Randy and I weighed our options, we put tubes in his ears. Not just so we would get some sleep, but we hoped it would give him some relief. It was the right decision and we can see a big difference in his speech, balance and overall demeanor.
Back to the sleep issue...after the surgery, we waited patiently. Sleep came several weeks later. In the form of 6 hours and only thrice.
It was the lead to all my conversations, "I went into REM last night, can you believe it. I think I got 6 hours of sleep, because Quinton slept!!!!!!!" as if everyone else, who is getting a full nights rest, cared in the least.

We have yet to experience the full nights rest again. We speak of it frequently. Our sleep schedule is so awful that Randy just informed me he keeps track at work, on a board for everyone to see. He has some elaborate plus and minus system that alerts everyone to the amount of sleep he has obtained. I was so tired when he told me that I have no idea how the system works, just that we are currently at a -10.
Neither one of us feel like getting our groove on at a -10. Yes, you know what I mean.
And so we wait. Mama can't take much more of this, so if my blog starts linking you to conspiracy theories and cayenne pepper body cleanses, just know that Quinton has not yet reached puberty and discovered that sleep is actually divine.
