Newborn Do's and Dont's

Don't stick your finger inside the diaper to check for poo.
Don't assume the diaper is clean if your spouse says, "I just changed him"
Don't let your 4 year old insert the binkie as the newborn binkie takes patience and a certain finesse if you desire acceptance by the newborn.
Don't stay up late with your spouse watching movies when the baby is less than one month old, unless of course, the movie has Brad Pitt, 007 Pierce or the Rock in a roll with his shirt off.
Don't fall asleep while feeding the baby as the milk will continue down the baby's neck and onto your mattress.


Do bathe frequently (yourself if at all possible).
Do order take out if the budget allows.
When your husband says, "can't we hire someone to clean"? do call the maid service right away as more sleep might change his mind.
Do take people up on the casual offer, "I'll take him for a little while if you want to sleep".
Do have cold hard cash available for older children as bribery is totally fine at 6am when they want to play Monopoly and you just got to sleep with the baby 30 minutes ago.
And do love, love, love on them as they grow way too fast and the thought of an additional newborn at this stage should cause fear and panic.
