Getting Together

Last week, my Uncle Kenny passed away. His passing brought a small part of the family together to celebrate and remember his life.
The night before the service, Boston and I drove down to Las Vegas to spend the night with my sister Monique, My Dad and My Grandmother.
Monique's oldest daughter, Ashley, also traveled with her is pictured here with our Grandmother.
Our 80 year old Grandmother. What the freak?

I can only hope that since the same blood is currently running through my veins, that I will look this good at 80. Who am I fooling...Grandma looks better than I do now.

Boston loved seeing Ashley and despite the fact there is a 10 year age difference, they seemed to really have fun with each other.

I'm not sure if Dad's gas pedal works the same as mine. We left Vegas at the same time and he arrived 30 minutes later. Just in time to change from his grunge driving clothes to his suit.

So, it's 11am and my Aunt wants to get started. We all take our seats. The service is about to begin...no Dad. And of course, everyone is looking at me.
I find my way to the dressing room/restroom, open the door and yell, "Dad?"...no answer.
Shoot, Dad couldn't hack it and left. What am I gonna tell the others?
I yell one more time, "Dad?" to which he replies, "I forgot my pants".
Laughter through tears is always unexpected.

I was glad I caught him for this picture before leaving. It's a mix of sloppy and suit. I think the handicap reference is appropriate here.

I wish we could have all stayed longer. I think the best part of having a family member pass on is that you get to spend time with ones still here.

I am so sorry for your loss, Laura. Your grandmother is so beautiful!
Hey-I think that the suit jacket and shorts might just catch on a fashion craze!

Ha, love your dad's mix of dressy/sloppy! Too funny!

So sorry about the loss of your family member though, but yes, it must have been great to reunite with other family!

Your grnadmother is very exquisite at her age! Good blood indeed!
